Is it better learning several programming languages or concentrating on a favourite one?

Through the Last years I have crossed several languages. From Java, c++ to diverse Scripting languages. Sometimes I think the more new languages I learn or have to learn, it gets more confusing. Maybe I should be focussing on one to learn this profoundly? Whats your oppinion on this?

learning multiple languages is obviously a plus point. It broadens your thinking ability. But, beginners should always master one language first. then move to other languages.

Learning several languages will give you easier understanding of new ones, its better to learn something about everything than everything about something

I believe that learning more than one programming language is a good idea. At least you can compare and make a better decision with which language you would like to start your future projects. I do agree that it gets confusing by the time, that's why you need to focus on one programming language and make it your daily driver.

More languages you learn ,more tools you will have under your belt. but none is useful if you don't have command over them. One can master a language not by theoretical reading but by practicing . so don't go to another language before commanding your current language
