Are Algebra and Calculus necessary?

Question

I looked up an online college major for computer programming and noticed it listed pre-algebra and pre-calculus as courses. Are these really necessary for programming (like in Python or Ruby) and how do they relate to programming? (I’m a beginner so I’ve only started learning about strings in Python).

more math skills you have the better. you can also learn as required. if you are the least bit intelligent you can figure things out. that's my view anyway
