Will there be mobile apps in the future

I tested the new Progressive Web Apps with Co-Workers. Those are Web Applications in a browser, but you can drag them onto your desktop and the browser will download and convert the app, so that it feels like an offline application. The co workers manage the connection to the interface and can get access to mobile phone specific functions (like push notifications). These progressive web apps work on every platform. Can they replace platform specific apps?

I've not worked with PWAs yet. What do you think about security issues, since they can be accessed without installation via app stores?

@Si Ogn They basically use the authorization of the browser and some extra settings on the phone for the workers. All in all they try to bypass the security check. They are not even useable without extra knowledge yet. imo: That's no option for the future, but i guess there could be new security settings for PWAs someday..
