There will never be a guaranteed way to prevent a program from being modified locally as long as users are allowed to have so much control and some people can program. Obfuscation using ProGuard & etc can help of course, but there are decompilers nowadays that can handle at least some obfuscation and will spit out code close enough to the source that it's understandable. Plenty of those tools can also help recompile, or actually give you a project that could be decompiled. Hand obfuscating (writing code that's difficult to crack) is also ineffective. Not that it doesn't work, just that it doesn't work as desired. It may deter a portion of potential crackers, but someone will eventually be curious enough to not just give up and though they may not make it 100% of the way they may still share notes and inspire someone else, etc. Eventually someone will reverse engineer it though.

its impossible really to stop reverse engineering - if thats what you are asking but cracks are actually pirating, not reverse engineering. in which cloud based services are the best way
