Generally speaking PHP is usually deployed for activities related to the server side of web development (but not only!) so interacting with MySQL databases, handling http requests etc. On the other hand javascript apart from other areas is heavily used in front-end web development to make the content of a website more interactive for the users. Currently JS is kind of a must to have language/skill for front-end developers along with HTML and CSS.

It depends on your purpose.As your profile shows you have knowledge about HTML & CSS.Now JavaScript is better for you.For web related works these 3 are basic.
