Please, who knows how does a 2d camera in a side scroller is implemented?

I'm trying to make a platformer game in python/pygame and because i'm unable to simulate a side scrolling camera where the player is centered, my game is not going on!
if someone knows how to do it please try to explain the concept to me, thanks.
