go to the webpages of some of the best universities which offer software engineering. look at their curriculum, the courses they take.
that's what you need to know to become a software engineer.
don't worry about a title, as long as you can do the same things as someone who visited university.

learning has nothing to do with age, so keep learning, be proficient in your chosen programming language. keep in mind that an engineer doesn't get good by "only" knowing the language very good. learn also software-hardware connection, how they are related to each other. learn about data structures and algorithms.
if you know all that, then it's only a matter of time to get a job as software engineer. if you want an academic title, you have to study at the university.

If you can't afford a formal education, then I'd recommend building up an online coding reputation, with your name associated with quality code. Also write a blog showing your passion.

Employers want skill AND passion.

Or do a Bill Gates! You can find programming project contracts online. People don't care about your age... as long as you can complete their project for a good price and quality! Not only could you earn money this way, but it's a good education.

Ensure you learn good programming practises and not just coding skills.

You can choose any language.

HTML is used to make web structure.

CSS is used to give style or animate web

JAVASCRIPT is used to make dynamic web (you can even make game)

PHP is server side scripting language

SQL is database manajemen in server side

C++ is multiplatform OOP based programming language (you can make many app including Games)

C# is more spesific (windows os) than C++

Java is used to build app that can run on any devices (including Android).
JAVA is not JAVASCRIPT

Python is multiplatform OOP based programming languages with easy syntax (compared to other OOP Language)

Python3 and Django for building strong and very rich website ( flask is used for small website,but Django for everything)

kivy ( a Python Program for anroid )is used for making android apps.

It's coding process is also simple and as like Python.
