Getting started
Well I’ve been taking notes and things on the C# course. I have the notes. But I’m not retaining the knowledge because I’m not practicing. What are your ways of practicing what you have studied and learned?

Being passionate about a subject, challenging yourself with goals that excite you!

There are two, or more possible, ways you can retain your knowledge.
1. Practice
2. Practice Again
You must not procrastinate while learning something. If you tend to procrastinate this means you are not interested, thus, you need to change the subject and learn something else. If you are keen to learn but still procrastinate then find out what wrong activities halt you from practicing, i.e. too much web surfing, insomnia, girl/boyfriend things, financial issues, etc. Find out the core reason(s) and work hard to eliminate them. You must work hard otherwise you'll be eliminated yourself out of competition. This is how it ends.
All the best and Happy Coding!

You need to put more time in. SoloLearn is good, because if you get stuck, you can ask people for help.
There is no real shortcut to success (although there are less and more efficient ways). Every expert that exists put a ridiculous number of hours in. They often sustained that level of focus and time, due to a crazed passion for their subject.
I started coding at 10 years old. That was once three decades ago. I spent several hours a day at that age learning.
