How to create boxes of different shapes and receive input & show output?

Question

Hi I’m a Noob to programming.

I would like to know how to draw different shapes and get input and display that input inside the shape i’ve programmed?

Example,

1. I’m drawing a Square using some SVG,
2. And use the class or ID attribute and use it with JavaScript and get input,
3. And use document.write(...)
4. Will that work?

Or if it won’t please tell me what else will work or possibly share a code of your creation help me out please!
