Wordpress v. Pure Coding...
I was recently told that using an API Drag and Drop program such as Wordpress makes me an incompetent website designer. What are your takes on this? I’ve spent three almost four years now using Wordpress and I think it’s amazing on the fly. So I was shocked to hear that people thought of Wordpress users as lesser thans!

Hmm as someone who tried both -using HTML/PHP and Wordpress, a manual website is most often lighter, with less unnecessary codes and fluff. Its also friendlier to Google -just follow the basic SEO guideline and you’ll definitely rank. Also, they’re easier to control and make into something other than a blog or a magazine.
Other than that, Wordpress always wins -because GUI.

nothing wrong with using wordpress, but I learn to be able to do things myself. Personally would rather make myself an ugly page than have a page made for me

That’s what I was thinking too. I use Wordpress.org and it’s quite nice. I’ve done my fair share of designs with it, so to head that was like what?!

I think Wordpress is ok. Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org?
People who build professional websites from the ground up, using just HTML and JavaScript are fools... seriously bad idea. Tools / frameworks like Wordpress / Drupal etc are fine.
Frameworks (or trusted self-build tools for simple websites) are the only way to go, as they've had thousands of years development time spent creating them! Nobody can compete with that, writing their own. Somebody told me their website had been hacked today... it sounds like a person created a lovely looking website... graphic design looks great, but it's security was awful. They should have used a framework with good security... multiple security experts have spent a very long time improving it!
Some developers want to feel 'macho', by doing things the hard way. These people are often against using frameworks, because they want to feel 'macho' and write their own. But that's like trying to put out a serious fire yourself with buckets of water, and not calling a fire crew! It is macho, but it's also idiotic.
I learned the hard way by the way... and used to be one of those fools. I guess we all live and learn.
