Is it okay to start programming with java?

I have this question, I'm starting at programming with java so I don't know if it's the right place to start

I started with Java. Learning Java is also a great opportunity to learn OOP. So, I think this is the right choice.

Yes, you can start with Java. It may not necessarily be the best first language, though. It depends on the individual. (However, I do know one 10-year-old girl who started with Java.) Java is an almost pure object-oriented language. Object orientation can be challenging for beginners. Moreover, Java makes object-oriented programming (or OOP) rather more complicated than it needs to be. It has a lot of boilerplate. It has notions of public/private/protected. Its constructors can be hard to understand. That’s why I recommend beginners learn Smalltalk as their first language.
