No One,I Repeat No One. Yes, let's hope we all find a job we love, however I'd recommend you watch the film The Beach and absorb the wider meaning of the story... that paradise never lasts. Everyone I know who loved their job initially, disliked it within 2-3 years.

Also, a job is a lot to do with who you work with, and the environment, not just the work. So rather than give up coding I'd suggest someone try changing their environment first. Although, sometimes a career change can be fruitful. I'm weighing up whether I go back into programming, after almost 15 years away from it! I love teaching maths to people, and indeed programming, so that's a consideration for be too. I did delve into the counselling / psychology and meditation fields, and also found those interesting, but realised there's no paradise ☺ Although on occasion we get close... during our natural fluctuations.

I definitely agree about coding being advertised as child's play. If we use the eating metaphor then it's probably closer to Elon Musk's friend's metaphor for setting up a business, "It's like eating glass, and staring at the abyss" 😂

Some people learn to build a brick wall badly, and start believing they can build a mile high skyscraper! It's a shocking delusion some people hold about coding, and other professions.

Morpheus , programming becomes headache for them who sees it as an source of money or for getting jOBS (as in your case).
But people who had(in past) or who will innovate new things , they see programming as a beautiful resource and a powerful tool.
And I think people like you are degrading the value if programming (sorry to say that).

No One,I Repeat No One. Thank you too. I got severe burn out working in IT, and had to help my mate once who had a breakdown. It's not always an easy ride. My opinion is that a lot of programmers are on the autistic spectrum, so struggle at office politics, and sometimes change. This makes employment more difficult, even though they find the coding ok.
