The main thing to focus is command on the language. It doesn't matter which programming language you are learning, basics should be crystal clear.
If you understand how any programming language interacts with computer then you can go for any language.
But if you are considering the popularity of language, i would go with python because there are lots of fields where python far exceeds c++ such as data science.

Well... Look at it like this:
If you want to work at Google, you need:
•To have AMAZING grades in School and have a PhD
•Coding isn't enough, you need something else as well, like coding and physics is a good combination.
•If you don't live in America, you have to move there as Google does not offer Teleworking.
