What type of editor is used to edit code

A variety of them.
To edit code, I'd recommend Visual Studio Code due to the fact that:
- it's open source
- it's really fast.
- and it has a lot of customizable themes.
But you can also use Atom or Vim if that's what you fancy.
(Also, if you want a more of a definition, usually text editors or IDEs(Integrated Development Environments) are used to edit code.
