If you wanted to make a Website, the Web Languages are Essential.

Though versatile, Python is best suited for Offline Applications; sure, use it to highlight search results (Google Uses It).

And even if popular, Ruby is also fit for App-Work.

These definitions are not very descriptive, and has a lean towards Web Dev Langs.
If you want, you can research and develop in those languages.
