I just inherited a mac laptop. best of both world. but not cheap.
with my own money I go for Windows on laptop and Linux for desktop/heavier development machines.

Linux is a lot better for CSE. More flexible and easier to build programms needed to code.
Personally I use both.

I prefer wiping Windows from the laptop and installing Linux. Much lighter. I've tried partitioning before, but found it's just better to commit and run a virtual machine with Windows as needed.

My opinion.

For my use partitioning was the better choice 😅
Always interesting how opinions differ. And giving the justification for several ways of doing things^^
