Programming need basic math knowledge, or better... mathematical thinking method! It depends on what do you want program. The hardest thing (also for me) is create an algorithm. C++ is a very good language, because it's a lot hard and has concept very interesting (very deep in hardware setting, like clean ram, greater efficiency,...). I suggest you give to C++ at least a glance, but continue with Java! ;)
