I would say one of the most powerful object oriented languages that ive been coding in for a while now is C#, and it is precieved as Microsoft reaction to the Java world. It can be used to make: - Games (unity) - Websites (ASP.NET MVC) - Desktop applications (win forms / WPF) - Mobile apps (don't have experience) - Cross platform apps for Linux and Mac - Install mono to run them in Linux env. It is also nativly supported on windows and will run without any special steps. It is abstracted out, so you don't have to reinvent the "wheel" and in my opinion very clean and is still being developed. I don't suggest it as a beginner language however, I would suggest Python or and declarative web language.
