You might be more interested in Octave, which is a GNU licensed free Matlab equivalent. Matlab is a proprietary software and might be expensive to buy "just to try it" ;)

MATLAB focuses on computation and visualization, mostly used within fields closely related to mathematics. You can do much - From plotting graphs, vectors, to image processing.
A brief lookup shows that MATLAB is capable of OOP.
I might actually try it if it doesn't require a license and isn't 10+GB in size. >.>

MATLAB is a powerful tool in numerical processes and also in engineering related topics. I used it frequently during my studies.
However, as Hatsy Rei said, it is quite expensive...
