I don't know c but i know java and python.you don't need to learn c language.but if you know c then you can learn easily c++ or java.and if you know java or c++ then c can be easily learn.but now days people prefer to learn c++ than c.

Other than syntax similarities (curly brackets, semicolons) I guess it isn't compulsory/obligatory to learn C prior to Java, these two works differently.

In C language most, if not all things, are handled by the coder, in Java, the huge libraries and garbage collector for example, releases the coder from the obligations/responsibilities to do things manually, plus the OOP paradigm, and platform independence of Java also adds up to the difference.

The conclusion IMHO is no, there is no urgency to learn C prior to Java, though, if you want to get yourself acquainted to another C based language, try C++, as it comes with OOP option, just to get your feet wet with OOP based knowledge : )

Its not compulsory...bt when u learn C before learning other languages, it will be easy to learn
