Operations in Python *,+,-,/

Question

Why it is impossible in python to return this ?! Instead of writing each operation (too long) ?
def (num1,num2):
L=[+,*,/]
for i in range (len(L)) :
return num1 i num2 #for eg num1=2 and num2=4
