How does shared hosting work really?Do I need it?

So If I have a node server and already registered a domain name do I need a shared hosting website like - hostgator, hostinger. If I don't how do I connect the domain name to the server.
If anyone knows a good article that can help please link it below.

Not clear what you mean by 'I have a node server'.
My understanding is that you want to publish a website under your own domain name.
Now the first question is, where you will host it. If on your own physical machine (server) then you need to install a web server program, e.g. Apache

Then ask your domain name provider to configure so that the domain points to the physical IP address of your server.
If you use hosting service, the process is the same but you won't need to operate your own server.
