Depends are you a front end or back end developer. For a back end or full stack developer I find wordpress a little bit embarrassing, if the client doesn't require it. You are not a back end developer if you can't create CMS. Yes it's a lot faster but it also shows to your client your lack of skills and that you can't create it on your own. Always go from scratch In freelancing you often see that people are looking for a wordpress developer. And some are looking for a web developer. Just saying...

i hate cms because its always a pain. except for shopping carts...those cms i love cause aint nobody got time to do that from scratch
