I've repeatedly read/heard Java is best for apps for Android. Is this still the case if the app will be for personal use?

I'm new to coding. I intend to make two personal apps for Android. Neither was intended to be sold/made available (at least not yet). I just wanted the experience and quite frankly, the apps. I wasn't sure if Java was specific to Android or if it's just widely readable. I'm a little out of my depth. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Also, do I need more than one programming language?)

Hi. Yes. It's good to know more than one language. I am not think that java is best. Today usual for games used C#. you also can use it for apps. It's my own opinion.

Hi. I'm an android programmer. I think that Java is the best programming language for Android development. If you are a fan of Python you can use Kotlin, but I prefer Java. I know that you can write your app in other languages but there is some problem with them. When you don't write your app in native language your app will increase your apk size also most of libs and APIs are in native languages. If you want to create a game for android you can use libgdx it's a powerful game framework.
