Difference between show and fedeIn

I don't understand the diffrence between using $("div").show () and $("div").fadeIn ()?

'FadeIn' is animated, 'show' not... With 'fadeIn' you progressivly display the element ( by from less to less transparency ), while with 'show' you display the element without transition ^^
