What is the actual power of Kotlin programming language?

Is this language really that powerful and versatile like Java? Is it confined to only Android development? If not, then what are the domains in which I can use it? Also, is it a beginner friendly language? If you have to learn it and you haven't have any programming experience, then will you like to learn it?

Kotlin is more versatile than Java because it can also compile native like C++, in addition to being able to run everywhere Java does with JVM. It is not as beginner friendly as Java due to the lack of decent examples both in Android and elsewhere. I'd recommend it being your second or later language.
