J.S. Can we customize only heighlited part of textarea (kind of like google docs)

I really don't know how difficult this is, but if not so hard, be sure to show me a code:
So - on google docs if you wanted to edit a specific text, you highlight that text and you change color, font, bold, italic, etc....
