It depends, if you like java, study java and get a java job, If you like html, study html and get a job with html. However, what separates good developers from great developers is being able to adjust to the demands of the employer. Some areas of programming can be universally applied to all languages. (Algorithms, structures, logic, loops, etc.) So, the employer needed a java developer and they hired a java developer, but then one day, they need someone to do javascript developing. Great developers will typically pick up a new language, apply the basics of programming, use previous experience and learn that language in about 6 months.
