Look up "The Door Problem", it's a wonderful introduction to game development.

It really depends on what's lacking... but here's a basic diagnostic:
1) is it too easy or too hard?
2) is it too long or too short?
3) what audience are you targeting?
4) how are graphics?
5) is the game clogged with sprites or does it need something new?
