Hey, most of these languages are...

based on C, right?? like kotlin & python obviously ++ & #. Probably not html though. Anyone can give me a quick rundown & history, thanks in advance.

The only languages that are based on C directly are C++ and Objective-C. Both are still able to compile C code along with their additions to the language. Most other languages are only inspired by C. This means that they used s similar syntax or similar features and keywords. Yet some languages are not really inspired by C but those are few. And even C was inspired by B, ALGOL and FORTRAN so though some say, that C is the "mother" of all languages that's not really true. It was just a good language at its time and therefore really successful.

aaron, yea thats what i mean. a lot of languages use the same words & syntax. if you look at schinds chart, it gives a better idea (supposedly) of the rooting of languages. id like to see someone else do a chart like that & compare.

Samuel Oñate Oh I don't think the horizontal layout means anything, you just have to fit all those languages somehow! There's also many more languages than that, those are just the more well-known ones.

oh, ive got a habit of doing that. thinking there's more intelligence than there really is. but... if that's the case, why are there those un connecting languages on the right only?? there might be a reason bro.
