Advice on what languages to learn

Question

I am very new to programming but I am very tech savvy and want to become a Software Engineer one day. I started learning ruby a couple of days ago, it is the only language I know (even though I know very little of it). I have fallen in love with the world of programing. Any advice/tips on what my next moves should be? What languages should I learn next? What software should I get? Type of thing, I love this app and the community that is here.

you should move to a language more efficient and contribute to projects on github to start with, than start yoyr project and setup a portfolio of your experience.
