visually: nothing
but, an interesting thing about html, is that not all things are just functional, but sometimes it is to make it more readable. You probably heard this, but i is italic, em is emphasized, ins is inserted, u is underlined, and so on. These tags should not be used that often, though, because now these should be done with css.
