In crm d365 wen i try to set a particular field with a date from another form, it populates 01/01/1970 instead of the xpctd date

Check your date format. I think you are using wrong format.

Suppose your date is 20-08-2019 but you are using date format yyyy-MM-dd. so in this case you can get that mentioned time.
