How to solve the given problem?

Question

I have been trying to solve the problem https://www.codechef.com/ZCOPRAC/problems/ZCO15001
on codechef, but I m completely failing the logics, i just couldn't make out the possible solution. As far as i can see this is an optimization type of problem and can be solved with DP.
Any help or pseudocode will be a great help.
Please help me out, guys!
