Buffer is nothing but a temporary memory on a computer which is used while transmitting or receiving data from other memory or devices.

an example of this have you ever experience your computer hang or not responding while do something like typing ? you continue typing or clicking randomly, but no changes on screen.when the computer back to normal those text suddenly appear and the clicks are registered ?
those input originally wasnt lost, it was stored in buffer. when computer back to normal it read the buffer then process them as your input.
