they are both "difficult" at first but once you master one the other is a walk in the park.
and neither of these are scripting languages. these are object orientated programming languages.
I would suggest learning c++ in-depth first then going to java. and I mean in-depth like learning hash tables binary trees and multithreading. then going to java and learning all that over.
