Kindly tell where do you need the python that is problem statement.

Where will you be using it, at work or personal projects? If at work, then tell which version your organization uses because it is different for every organization.

If there is complete freedom, then use python 3.8. Reason?? Major development on every framework and package is for Python 3 as Python 2.7 has reached it's End-of-life (EOL). So, if gt stuck into the code somewhere due to OS or IDE you'll be able to get fix for Python 3 more easily than python 2.
