@Adrian: I have never done app development but I can still share some knowledge that I gained while doing research for it. An app might have some unique features such as in the case of sololearn where we have challenges, quiz factories,etc. So building such things takes time and a lot of effort too. One more thing is how you have to centralize your server so that on any device, whether on website or app, everything remains updated.
