Why is there C++

Initially C++ was creates as an extended version of C language by adding OOP feature in it but now it have developed into a completely different programming language.
It is well known for its speed and because it is a lower level language hence gives you more independent access to system hardware and memory thus vastly used in game development and operating system development.
