Am I good enough for a programmer job?

you'll never really know. the employer decides if you're good enough. maybe try an internship to test your skills.

I think it depends not only your knowledgebase, but do you sure you want to do this all the time. The age is also factor so mine, near 40 is not a big advantage if you are to apply in teenager's competition company. I am not sure it will be so much existing job - almost no personal contacts (remote job-like mine) hard level of stressful daily program and lack of physical activities. If you are absolutely sure programming is your life, then (after in about an year preparations) you are ready to apply. There's a great need all over companies for developers and I believe the day you will receive your chance couldn't be so faraway.

try to test your skills in hacker earth or try to participate in any of the hackathon events where u u can feel confidence of what u have done
