How to score well in competitive programming

I want to score well in competitive programming . I'm comfortable with python but not understanding where to start . I've done codechef long challenges and hackerrank questions but I'm not able to make it up to the mark. Can anyone tell me how to do it in the right way?

www.geeksforgeeks.com this is best for beginners you will get great explanation of problem with solutions and many practice questions with theory. For competitive programing first you need to learn all basics.

The only solution to this is practicing more problems.

Also it is recommended to practice problems which are slightly above your difficulty that is neither too easy nor too difficult.

Upsolving is also a key to become better at competitive programming.
