Confusion about assertions in Python

Question

Hi there, i have a question about assertions and that is if they're kept in the final code or only used when debugging and then deleted when the code is complete, it's just that i don't fully understand in wich parts of the code they would be put and how it would affect the result of the program once finished. I would appreciate if someone could explain this to me.
