I would also recommend python, easy to get going and offers learning many programming fundamentals that you can use in almost every other language. It is also a very useful language being supported on almost every platform (note java is as well!)
The important point in choosing is do you have an application/project or problem in mind you want to tackle? Some languages are better for certain problems when you want to learn. If you possibly post a project you have in mind the community here can suggest many options and resources for you.
