Does working alone pay an intern programmer, or hooking up with an IT company?

That highly depends on your own network, also if you are someone easily go to meet people, try to "sell" them your services. Also that's better to have at least 2-3 years in a company before realy think about working alone. But for some people they can directly success without pass from working in company step.
