ram usage going to 99 %. please read the description and help me.

Question

recently i was trying learn blender by creating a small minecraft animation by using blender from following youtube in laptop. but im not even half past the course but the software started lagging. my ram usage goes to 99%. my ram is 4 gb. and blendrr takes less than 2 gb . others shouldnt take more than 500 mb as im not using any software at that moment. than how does this goes up to 99%? now everytime i try to open my save progress the whole laptop hangs. need help.

4 GB RAM is very few for working with blender especially when you're on Windows which consumes up to 2 GB by itself. There are Linux distributions that reduce the idle RAM usage to less than 500 MB which would help you a lot for your project. You could try Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Mate or Linux Mint. These are all very low on RAM usage.
