Which is better <br> or </br> ? Why?

<br> is the only valid way in html... even if html permissivity allows some syntax error by silently fix them ^^

Both fulfill the same function, the difference is that it is used more </ br> because it is a standard to distinguish that it is a label.

<br/> is better as it is the standard tag for breaking a line in HTML, actually using <br> will not cause an error, but it's not guaranteed that no error will appear. So just be in the safe side use <br/> instead. BTW the standard tag is <br/> not </br>.
