Converting an array values by obj properties

Question

converting an array full of string to multidimensional array.

Ex:
var maps = [
"######",
"# #",
"######"
]
var sym = {
"#":1,
" ":0
}

I want to use sym properties replacing all value inside maps like this

[
[1,1,1,1,1,1],
And so on...
]

How can i do that?
