I want to upload a website to Netlify

I want to upload a website to Netlify.. To get a url... But it says that.. You have to upload it through.. Github repository... When I uploaded my wesbite html file to git hub repository... And uploaded it on netlify... It said error... When I opened up the Url.. What should I do?
