@Leon, well it's mostly about finding optimal solutions which involves computing theory and discrete math.

For neural networks knowledge of stochastic processes is required to do anything complex. Most of AI is about heuristics anyway which is more a computer science thing than pure math.

That depends on your notion of AI, but if you want to work in machine learning, then you should know basic mathematics and statistics.
