Is learning R important for DataScience?

Hey guys, is learning R important for a Data Scientist or Learning Python and SQL is enough, Actually I was seeing some of sites yesterday of interviews - I saw that one question was what are the pros and cons of Python and R? So is R compulsory or Python and SQL is enough?

It depends where you want to work. In academic institutions and research I think R is more common. In business Python is more common. And you can also do data science without ever using R or Python. The language Julia is also specialized on data science and machine learning. https://www.analyticsinsight.net/julia-is-causing-quite-a-stir-with-code-modernization-in-the-tech-industry/ Less trivial but valid choices are C++, Java, Kotlin, Scala, even JavaScript, the only real challenge is finding the right libraries that help. They do exist, but most of the articles and courses online focus only on R or Python, so it will be more difficult to get started in other languages. https://kotlinlang.org/docs/data-science-overview.html

R is an important tool for Data Science. It is highly popular and is the first choice of many statisticians and data scientists alike. https://data-flair.training/blogs/using-r-for-data-science/
